more brilliant @robhorning: "what #TikTok or any of the other media platforms is for seems self-evident only after their popularity can no longer be challenged, and it becomes unthinkable, for instance, that they can simply be banned by government fiat" robhorning.substack.com/p/our- #socialmedia

Rapper #Afroman had his Ohio home raided by the Adams County Sheriff's Office in 2022. He has created a song, called "Will You Help Me Repair My Door," about the incident. In the video for the song, he uses clips from his own security cameras along with shots of official documents like the search warrant. The PoPo also stole $400 which is also shown in the video...before the cops cut the feed.

This is really, really interesting. Open Collective is allowing those who use their platform, and have funding, to be “hired” under their umbrella to enable things like payroll, healthcare, taxes, etc to be handled. It doesn’t help projects that can’t get funding, but those that have ample funding to support maintainers full time now have an option for “employment”.

Badass story on tribes being badasses, stocking up on billions of seeds and planting Native trees to start restoring the landscape before Klamath dam removal even begins.

The #Yurok Tribe recruited riparian ecologist Joshua Chenoweth, who helped restore the Elwha River after what was then the biggest dam removal in US history, to help with the massive undertaking on the #KlamathRiver.
