Saw the Barnacle parking enforcement in action today

@Marrekoo @mlanger Yep. Apparently parking enforcement innovation. ;-)

@kin @Marrekoo I don’t understand how it sticks to glass and can only be removed by parking enforcement without damaging the glass. Is it some sort of super suction cup?

@kin @Marrekoo Holy crap.

I see a lot of potential for hacking and abuse here. I still think towing is more effective. When my car got towed in New York City it was a royal hassle to figure out where it was, take a cab there, and pay both the parking fine and the towing fee to get it back. You better believe I never illegally parked again in New York City.

(For the record, I was too close to a fire hydrant.)

@mlanger @kin

Towing is ideally only done when the vehicle poses a direct danger or hindrance. Such as blocking a hydrant.

@Marrekoo @kin I wasn’t blocking. I think you’re supposed to be 10 or 15 feet away and I was 5 or 10 feet away. In other words, 5 feet too close. I don’t think the curbs were painted red in those days — this was a LONG time ago. Definitely not blocking. I had a really small car and squeezed it in. But still didn’t really fit.

@Maria Langer | 📝 🎬 ⚒️🛥️ Vacuüm, if I'm not mistaken.

Won't work very well on self driving cars, I guess 😉

@kin I wonder if this + a steering wheel lock "might" be enough to prevent a Kia from being broken into and stolen. 🤔

@carpetbomberz Nope. Kias are meant to free range by design. ;-)

@kin Oh give me land, lots of land and the starry skies above,...

Truly Kias just want to be free.
