The more time I spend on Mastodon cultivating, expanding, and engaging with my network(s), the less tolerable the Facebook and Twitter timelines become. Mastodon reminds me of why social matters, and reveals how much advertising and the algorithm has crept into every moment of my day and set the pace off my reality.

@kin I'm enjoying blocking every blue check I see here.

@kin

Same. I don't think you realise how pervasive the algorithms are until you leave them behind and experience things without them.

@kin I'm also enjoying having control over the platform. Reminds me of the old days when I paid more attention to how information in coming into my feed. Starting to think about incorporating feeds and stuff for the first time in about 10 years.

@kin it does feel good to find a following, have discussions, and not have s thousand ad interruptions in the middle. It really does feel like discovering new people (and pruning frauds) again.
