Who is going to lobby all the embeddable social sharing solutions to add a Mastodon icon?
@kin tricky thing is, at least in the early days (prior to social media widgets being served by whatever CMS the website is using), such widgets were primarily loaded directly from the social media sites themselves.
It wouldn't be a good idea for an embedded widget to load from an instance, but maybe it would be a good idea for instances to start serving self-contained embedded HTML widgets, with the icon and all, no resources loading from the instance.
@TheCoolest Good point. I think we need to begin developing a thoughtful federated approach. I remember all the surveillance concerns of centralized FB, Twitter, etc. I'd like to see instance and non-instance versions, with clear instructions as to pros / cons of each.
@kin I was very happy to see that font awesome had an icon for me to use on my personal site weeks ago.
