abt twice a month, i'd see an older guy walking on the side of the road - well-worn suit, old tie + almost worn-out shoes, carrying a bag full of shoe samples. he was a door-to-door shoe salesman who took orders.

i picked him up a few times + gave him a lift. it was apparent quickly that those rides may have been the only times those days that he was off his feet.
